The Kelly Bag is popular, but the Hermes Kelly 15 Bag, which is known as the Micro Bag, is harder to get than the waiting on the waiting list at your favorite Hermes boutique. That is because the Hermes Kelly 15 Bag was discontinued in 1992. They were only produced between 1984 and 1985, then reintroduced from 1991 to 1992.
Why is it not being produced? The bag does not fit in the 21st century. The Kelly Bag does not fit an iPhone or any smartphone. It’s more like a clutch companion than a real bag. It lacks functionality.
The Hermes Kelly 15 Bag is now considered art, a historical piece of the brand. But it’s also a powerful financial asset aka a good investment.
In my opinion, the Kelly 15 is a statement maker, it’s a rare piece, extremely difficult to get, and very high-priced, especially in like-new or very good condition. It’s like expensive jewelry that not everyone can get. But it’s not suitable for daily wear.
