I used the same VAT tool online, France seems to have the highest VAT refund of 13% based on a Chanel GST model costing €1790!

Hi Alex, it’s getting confusing because the SA in Paris said it’s only 12% VAT refund for all purchases in their Galeries Lafayette store. This is contrary to the 13% on the online calculator from Global Blue 🙁 1% is about €30!
We heard its 13% from a lot of BMB followers, not 12%. I think you can get the refund more easily in GL, therefore I think its 1% less. You should try other stores like 31 Rue Cambon. Generally, tax refund is done at the airport, after you purchase your goods, you fill in the papers at the custom.

Bought a grey cube boy large in London Harrods for £2930. Then went to Paris and got my Jumbo Classic flap in ghw at €3450 and dark blue GST for €1790. I bought the Large Boy (black) from Chanel at Avenue Montaigne as the Store at Rue Cambon has run out of stock , the new medium is very nice and is bigger than the previous ones , the large one they only have black left as for the rest they still have dark blue, black , biege and red etc . The price now is €2,200 n tax at Chanel boutique is 13% (Credit Card), and I didn’t ask the percentage for the cash refund. For purchases at Galleries Lafayette, the tax refund is 12% for card n 10% for cash. That price € according to my friend was similar to the price she paid in Malaysia few months back. She paid RM9,470 n I paid €2,200 which about the same (assuming €1=RM4.3), but oh well, my gain is the tax refund and the euphoria of shopping at 31 Rue Cambon!!! Cèst la vie…

hi! can i ask is it generally one will get a higher vat refund in Italy? my friend who just bought a boy chanel in Italy (Venice if im not wrong), she is entitled to a 14% vat refund. is that other cities in italy that could get higher than this amount?

Hi Charlene, tax-refunds depends on the VAT of the country. Some European countries has higher VAT than others, and then you need to think about the administration fee that you need to pay in processing the tax-refund application. If you sum them all up, Italy give back 14% instead of 12% in Paris.

Do you think in this time period approx. 1 month, I will be able to find a chanel classic jumbo flap black cavier in gold hardware? I wil also visit paris for just 4 nights early jan. My friend went to chanel store in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) last 2 days and was told that the price has increased effective 1st November. May I know is it true? I’ll be traveling to a few countries in Europe next week. Planning to get chanel in Paris or Rome. May i know what is the latest price for PST medium and also the classic medium flap and jumbo GHW? Earlier was €3100, €3450 & €1790 (PST).. Please advise.

Yes, it has increased, but just a little bit. The new clutch bag has increased by 50 EUR, as far as we know, the jumbo was €3450 and now it is €3500, not ‘yet’ a disaster.
Apparently the Medium classic flap bag has gone up very slightly to £2,740 (I paid £2,670 a few months back). I wonder why the increase is so small?
