When Chanel have decided to stop the production of the Chanel mini 2.55 classic flap bag, it was really a sad thing.
But the good thing is that from time to time, the Chanel Mini 2.55 Classic Flap Bag and I will sometimes meet again. The bag is not lost at all, they are still being sold on the internet and pre-owned, but in high demand. Some consignment stores will put you in a long waiting list.
The 2.55 classic flap bag have been introduced since February 1955. This one is made from lambskin and is a single flap with a double C turnstile lock . A single chain strap can be worn either on your shoulder or in cross body. The latest price I had encounter was around $2,500 USD. This bag is originally made in 1989 to 1991. Talking about vintage huh?

First of all, the 2.55 reissue flap doesn’t have the double CC lock, it has the re-tangular shape lock: Pls read:

The classic medium flap cost around €3.100, including VAT. I’m not sure if your friend is a EU citizen, if not he can get around 12% VAT back.
But another alternative would be Chanel wallet on chains. They are cheaper than the classic flaps with interlocking CC’s. Check them out at:

The Cocorider is a gorgeous bag, but it’s like you said: looks more similar to the classic flap. Nothing like the WOC. It’s what you want, do you want a smaller bag or a larger. The WOC is really petite (halfmoon is a bit larger), but has it’s own beauty. You won’t fit anymore than you essentials, but great for the evenings. Do you also know which color?

Yes the cocorider is much cheaper and is a bit similar to the classic flap medium. But you also want to look for the new season bag called ‘easy/basic flap’. That too look VERY similar to the classic flap. The easy cost: GBP 1530.

As per your instructions, i sent a friend to chanel paris store. There he saw a few bags including the chanel rider but they say that the starting range on a bag is €1800.

Ya i did consider that.My friend is an indian citizen who has gone there on a student exchange program. Hes been there since january and is coming back to india on 16th june..

I think they can help you with the prices, but then again I don’t think they can send you pictures, because the store is just too busy. And Chanel site doesn’t publish everything. Do you now know which bag you want?
The refund amount is 12 – 14%, in Paris I think is 12%, your friend is not an EU citizen, so he can get the vat back.
It’s better to know which bag you want before calling the Chanel boutique, they can help you better. Your friend has experience in designer handbags?

Actually its my friend whose confusing me.he doesn’t have much idea about designer bags. But he’s been going to all the designer stores and hes telling me that he didn’t like chanel bags (lambskin). He says they are okay but doesn’t feel that it’s as expensive as it is.. He said hes seen some versace bags which book really good.. But I wanna buy chanel and his saying it doesn’t justify the price is confusing me more.

Shash, to be honest, these are personal opinions. I heard also a lot that Chanel quality is not like 5 years ago. Oke, that might be true, BUT IT’S CHANEL. You can’t compare Chanel with Versace. You know which brand has great quality and style, well Coach! But carrying a Coach don’t supplement the FEELING that Chanel can give you. Never.
There are many brands that are great value to quality. I buy Nike for my little brother, they cost $150 a pair, but I can buy them on the Pacific market too, they sell them with great quality to price, but they aren’t Chanel.
You are not only buying a Chanel, but also the experience and the feeling that no other brand can give you.
As long as the Chanel is authentic, the right color and the right leather, you will be satisfied.
More over, there one more Chanel bag that I want you to look at. It’s the Chanel Pondichery flap bag, look at the forum, it’s on the Chanel section, front row. =)

No oda, unfortunately the mini classic flaps are out. Maybe we can find it in consignment stores or in Ebay if we are lucky. The open options are now:
1. Chanel classic flap in medium size
2. Chanel classic flap in jumbo size
3. Chanel classic flap in maxi size
