Chanel 2.55 Reissue Classic Flap Bag: Reflection Of Coco Chanel

If there’s anything from Chanel that reflects back to Coco Chanel, that would be the Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag. Coco started designing handbags in the 1920’s. At that time, women were carrying their handbags around their arms or by hand. So in 1929, Coco decided to introduce a handbag that has a strap and you could sling it around your shoulder. But the 2.55 bag was not born yet.

Chanel’s fame increased in 1954 and Coco decided to re-design the style of her handbag. In February 1955, she official launched her new bag and it was called the Chanel 2.55.

Throughout the years, the Chanel 2.55 has been modified into a different bag. They changed the locker, the leather, the flaps and even the straps. Later on, Karl Lagerfeld decided to re-make the Chanel 2.55 bag exactly as Coco Chanel has made it back in 1929. It was released in February 2005 in memorial of its 50th birthday, since then the legendary bag is called: Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag.

Not only has the Chanel 2.55 reissue a rich history, but without it, I belief the famous Chanel classic flap collection wouldn’t have born.

    • Hi bee, absolutely not! Here’s why: Let’s say your bag cost you €1.000 EUR + €210 (21% VAT) = €1.210 (Price + 21% VAT).

      To calculate back, you don’t substract 21%, but 17,35%. So €1.210 – 17,35% (€210,-) = €1.000.

so is your discount will be 17,35%. What’s more, there are administration fees involve for VAT return. If you substract that too, what’s left is around 14%.

so VAt of 19% is around 12% discount. Read more:

    • HI Bee, I don’t understand whatthe 20% tax is. Is that the tax in Canada, sales tax or soemthing like that? And did you friend applied for tax-refund in Paris?

You can find the price of the jumbo flap here:
      http://www.bragmybag.com/chanel-latest-prices-and-product-information-worldwide-2012/

Chanel has no price increase yet, so prices are still the same. What you need to do is substract 12% of the price (because you are NON-EU citizen you can get the VAT-refund). With the 12% OFF, I think your bag will be cheaper than Canada.

I am crossing my fingers for you, as I am not sure whether Chanel will increase price in April.

    • hi sassy, yes the 20% is our import duty/taxes at the custom. he did apply for the 12% tax rebate, like i said after all these, i saved only C$120!

    • But that’s not how it works. Pls read this:

      http://www.bragmybag.com/how-to-get-your-chanel-bags-through-customs/

You apply for tax-refund. But if you show the custom that you’ve bought a brand-new bag, of course they charge you the import duty. If you have the bag in a brand-new box, of course they charge you duty. That’s what they do. They know what Chanel is. But if you carry it like you bought it 6 months ago, you can’t show any receipt beside telling them that you bought in Canada, then…?

    • i thought about that too. they can always verify with the chanel boutique, then what? i can be on their record for 7 yrs for perjury.
      thks for the site
