If there’s anything from Chanel that reflects back to Coco Chanel, that would be the Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag. Coco started designing handbags in the 1920’s. At that time, women were carrying their handbags around their arms or by hand. So in 1929, Coco decided to introduce a handbag that has a strap and you could sling it around your shoulder. But the 2.55 bag was not born yet.
Chanel’s fame increased in 1954 and Coco decided to re-design the style of her handbag. In February 1955, she official launched her new bag and it was called the Chanel 2.55.
Throughout the years, the Chanel 2.55 has been modified into a different bag. They changed the locker, the leather, the flaps and even the straps. Later on, Karl Lagerfeld decided to re-make the Chanel 2.55 bag exactly as Coco Chanel has made it back in 1929. It was released in February 2005 in memorial of its 50th birthday, since then the legendary bag is called: Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag.
Not only has the Chanel 2.55 reissue a rich history, but without it, I belief the famous Chanel classic flap collection wouldn’t have born.

I’m going to get a 227 in black, I have some questions wanna ask. I’m a little confused about the leather, is that a lam skin or calfskin? And I’m struggling about the chain color, can’t decide what color I should go with. Looking forward your suggestion and opinion. Thank you~:)
Ada, that’s really GOOD question, because there ain’t much information to be found about the leather type in the reissue 2.55. The Chanel reissue comes in variation of styles and colors, you might have already know this. Here are the most common leathers to choose:
Distressed lambskin, Distressed calfskin, Metallic distressed calfskin, Smooth calfskin.
You see, they are all distressed, because the Chanel reissue doesn’t look like new. The style is vintage, look like it’s been used.
