Mary’s Magdalene’s name is thought to be inspired from Magdala, which is a village on the Sea of Galilee. Magdala actually means great or magnificent in Aramaic. And Madelein means little girl in German.

However, Longchamp picked the Madeleine name because of the famous La Madeleine district, which is where a lot of embassies, large institutions, art and luxury shops are located. You can find the Madeleine district between Avenue des Champs-Elysees and Rue Saint-Honore.

The Design
