Recently, we received a question from our community, asking: ‘How to read a Chanel tag’. I thought it might worth pointing out. The Chanel tag has an important role in identifying the authenticity of the bag. You see, the date of birth of your Chanel bag is scripted on it and if it doesn’t relate to the seller’s story, you will instantly know it’s fake.
11P: represents the collection of the Chanel bags
08 represents 2008
09 represents 2009
10 represents 2010
11 represents 2011
12 represents 2012
And so on…
P represents Printemp or spring
A represents Autumn collection
S represents Summer collection
V represents Continuous line
C represents Cruis collection
In our example, 11P means 2011 Printemp/Spring collection.

Hi Lily, if you’ve bought at the Gallery Lafayette, it should be authentic because they’re famous for selling Chanel bags. I’ve never seen this design as well, I think it’s the new classic Classic Flap Bag with splashes of colors on it. Do you have the style code?

Hi Lily, that’s the authencity card. The style code should also be available on the receipt, of not its on the tag. This is certainly a limited exceptional piece, which is why there is no info online.

Hi M, I cannot authentic the bag, but I can try to check when the bag is released and perhaps its name. The bag should have a hologram sticker if its purchased in store. If your bag is a seasonal bag, or quite recent released, then the chances for replica is low because usually the classic and popular bags are being copied.

I just bought a large shopping tote at the Chanel boutique in Amsterdam yesterday. The style code is A98757 but I can not find this bag online. I am just wondering from which collection this bag is. The retail price was €3250.

Hi Alex, no there is no pouch included and the lining is light beige inside. The bag is not structured (very soft). I also saw this same bag in the store in army green. Thanks!

Trying to figure out what Chanel bag my wife has. I was able to figure out the year and season based on your tips above but can’t find out any of the other details. Please let me know if you can help. I have searched every possible detail including UPC, color code but can’t find any info about it anywhere.
I have figured out it is 2004 Autumn collection. But don’t know what the color code is, what the bag is made of or what style it is.
