Bringing the past back to life is the new trend. I was wondering: “Why discontinue the Celine Luggage Bag in the first place?”

The Celine Luggage Bag (2010 version, designed by Phoebe Philo) was one of the hottest topics on Bragmybag.com. I could say that it was as famous as the Chanel Classic Flap Bag. But the trend faded slowly and the bag was left behind. The sale value plummeted; in the end, Celine decided to discontinue the Luggage Bag.

Now for the Spring/Summer 2026 Collection, the new creative director Michael Rider reintroduced the Celine New Luggage Bag (2026 version). He introduced three sizes:

1. The Little Luggage Bag
2. The Luggage Bag (normal/medium size)
3. The Big Luggage Bag (large size)

Then he designed two more new versions:

• The Big Smile Luggage
• The Flat Luggage

There was only one version of the Celine Luggage Bag (2010 version).

I understand the excitement of having so many choices, but back in the day, there was only one type of Celine Luggage Bag. IMO, that would be much better because all attention would be focused on that single bag. All attention could be focused on bringing the “classic” back to life. But now there is a “Big Smile Luggage Bag” and a “Flat Luggage Bag,” which feel completely different than the 2010 version

The secret of the Celine Luggage Bag was not only “minimalism.” Minimalism was part of Phoebe Philo’s style, but it was never 100% true for all handbags, especially the Luggage Bag. The secret was the “(multi) colors” that were released every season. I remember back in the day we would get excited every time a new Luggage was released. New colors brought new excitement, new personality, and gave you uniqueness (because certain colors were only available during that season). I hope Celine will bring this multi-shade vibe back.

Celine Medium Luggage Bag (2026): 36 x 22 x 16 cm / 14.2 x 8.7 x 6.3 inches

Celine Mini Luggage Bag (2010): 30 x 30 x 18 cm / 12 x 12 x 7 inches

• The new Luggage (2026) is wider and has larger, expandable wings, while the classic Luggage bag (2010) has a more square shape with less expandable wings.
• The end of the handle represent the eyes, the zip represent the mouth. And it has a nice curved detailing on the body, which mimic the face. The New Luggage Bag lacks these features.
