Must Haves #23: The New Classic – Chanel Large Shopping Bag In Tiole (Chanel Biarittz Tote)
Just a few minutes ago, I couldn’t resist myself and started crawling all over Chanel site again. The classic section have remain unchanged before 2012. It could that I have missed something, but in the classic section they have added a new bag. It’s called the Chanel Biarittz Tote.
Apparently they are available in two sizes, small and large size (similar to PST and GST). The style of the bag is made very chic and a small CC logo is hanging just underneath the right strap. I think that is adorable.
The small Biarittz Tote comes in size: 10.6 x 10.6 x 4.3. Very petite, but a bit too small to do any shopping. The large Biarittz Tote is sized 12.6 x 14.2 x 7.1, much bigger. Unlike the PST and GST, the small and the large size are not similar. The large bag doesn’t have the CC logo attached to the strap, but on the zipper in the center. Two side pockets are included to make sure you have all the roomy space you need. I bet the large bag is more structured from the inside.
The bag is shown only in black, I am curious whether Chanel have made more colors available?

Hi Chris, it’s me again, do you have an budget? About the Chanel Tote, this Biarittz is not as popular as the GST or the PST. I would recommend buying these if you are looking for the classics.

Sooo happy to found this blog, since i adore chanel bag and love to have one. I’m planning to go to germany in june and hopefully i can have my first purchase there. Just wondering is large shopping bag is the same as GST? And how much it cost for both bags in europe?

On the design perspective, the Biarittz tote is not like the GST. It’s not a replacement of the GST, the GST remain a classic that lot of people wants. The GST cost around €1,750 and the Biarittz tote should be around €1,400. Let me know which one you decide to buy.

The more i read your blog the more dilemma im in, since my dream bag is jumbo/ maxi flap bag but my savings is not there yet, then i read about the easy flap bag…is it worth to buy that item or just stick with the GST instead. Need your input on this 🙂

I always wanted a flap bag,but after reading ur blog i found out about GST, love the design as well. Aside from that i don’t want to waste my europe trip and wanted to make a purchase there. Aside from germany, i will make visits to paris and amsterdam too.

I mean, if there;s any possible way you can get your ‘dream bag’, then go for it. I mean you are going to save it anyway if you buy it today or next year. But if it’s not possible, then try out the GST, where are you from btw?

I don’t have the exact price of the Chanel tiole tote. It’s a new classic bag of the Chanel collection. You can read in the comment that someone bought the bag for £1150 (+ VAT). Calculated in USD would be $1,800. But do know that the prices in USD is slightly higher, so I would estimate between $1,800 – $2,000. Let me know when you bought the bag. =D

I manage to buy the large shopping bag in London heathrow T3 at £958. The city boutiques are retailing at £1150. The purchase was made on 17 Feb 2013, I found it weird when I read that LHR chanel boutique stopped carrying classics.

Btw, the bag is in black color, not gray 🙂 it’s the lighting that reflects the grayish color.

I chose the large size cos I’m tall and big 🙂 the large tote also comes with adjustable handles and a zipper top. Inner bag features a mobile phone pocket and a zipper side pocket as well. But do take note that this bag is a bit on the heavier side. I drove to work so the weight and comfort level is minimal concern to me.

I think the bag is perfect for work and busy lifestyle, but less perfect when you need to walk all day long like shopping. Btw, I heard that Chanel discontinued the cerf tote and replace it with the shopping bag in tiole instead (GST in combination with cerf). What do you think?

Hi, Sharon. I was very curious about the prices after I saw the bag on Chanel.com. Thanks for sharing that. Besides me, there are several peoples informed that Chanel stopped stocking iconic bags. The news is still fresh, so we will have to wait and see.

Btw, I reserved this bag through the LHR Airport “reserved and collect” service. You may want to google on that. And yes, I was told that they no longer stock classic flaps only. I do still see seasonal flaps on display thou. The large shopping tote don’t falls under the “flaps” category, hence I’m able to purchase it.
