Last Thursday my best friend Karen and I decided to take a trip to Paris. One shop that I had on my list to visit was the Chanel boutique. I couldn’t leave Paris without checking out the Chanel inventory. I already own some Chanel bags, so I was initially on the lookout for something small like jewelry or a wallet.

It was a five hour drive from Amsterdam to Paris. When we arrived in Paris, we ate out, visited a club then went back to the hotel for the rest of the night. I was so excited about visiting the Chanel shop the next morning. We left the hotel around 10 AM to go out to breakfast. By noon we found ourselves at a Chanel boutique. And to my surprise it was completely full.

Not only was this particular Chanel boutique full, but the earrings that I asked for were sold out. There are between six to eight Chanel shops in Paris, and I just so happened to be at a crowded one that no longer had the earrings I wanted in stock.

While I was inquiring about the earrings, I saw two young girls standing next to me. The girls came from China and were considerably wealthy. The saleswoman that was helping them showed them three boxes of beautiful earrings. Without even making a choice, the girls decided to buy ten to fifteen pairs of earrings. No wonder the earrings that I were looking for, were sold out.

Even though things didn’t go as planned, I still picked up two other pairs of earrings. It reminds me of the last time I visited a Chanel shop in Paris. I wanted to get a Chanel Black Caviar Jumbo Flap with a silver chain but it was sold out as well. I guess I’m just going to start calling the store before I show up expecting a certain item.
