Sophisticated Lace: Summer Look With Red Valentino Bag

Kamilla visited Bragmybag and wanted to share a gorgeous summer-look that is styled with a RED Valentino bag. She is a blogger at Sophisticated Lace and a loyal fashion addict. Dressed in white on the top and black on the bottom, the red bag is screaming for attention. I’m very curious, let’s ask Kamilla how she created this style.

Where are you from?
I’ve been living in Austin, Texas for the past two years. Before that, I lived in Russia, New York, Canada, and England.

Any dreams you want to achieve?
I’d really love to have my own business and work for myself one day! I also want to travel a lot and move to somewhere in Europe.

How do you describe your fashion taste?
I don’t really think a have a defined style-I like to experiment too much. I’ll wear anything, from vintage to avant garde, if it catches my eye. I do dress a little more formal than most people, especially for the laid-back vibe in Austin-I own one pair of jeans and started my blog because I wanted to show people that you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck on clothes to look, well, sophisticated.

One think I hate is trends and the obsession with celebrity wear. It makes the world so boring when everyone is wearing the same style! I get a little sick inside every time I see neon and floral pastels this season!

About your picture: How did you crafted this style and how does the bag matches?
I wanted to wear something simple, because the bag is so beautiful that it deserves to be the focus of the outfit. A whit-ish top, black skirt, and black shoes seemed to be as basic as you could get. Then I liked the idea of wearing that leather top because I had just bought it last weekend and it matched the shade of leather of the bag. It seemed like they were made to be worn together! I also wanted to wear something on my feet that would offset the girliness of the bag, which was why I picked the weirdest-looking shoes in my closet.

What are you favorite handbags?
I would really like to get a classic Chanel quilted bag. I don’t think anything else matches its timeless elegance for me. Other bags I’ve had my eye on are the Balenciaga motorcycle bag (although its appeal has been partly ruined by all the knock-offs being sold on every street corner in NYC), the Chloe Paraty, and the Salvatore Ferragamo Sophia bag. I also think Jill Sander’s leather lunchbags were genius and very fun-looking, although I’m not sure I would pay that much money for what is essentially a fancy-looking lunch bag!

What do you think are ‘must have’ bags for anyone?
I think it really depends on your style, how you lke to carry your bag, and what you tend to carry around. Personally, I like bags that you can carry on the nook of your arm, as opposed to on the shoulder or just carrying it in your hand. I also need something medium-sized because I always like to have a book on-hand. The RED Valentino bag fits both descriptions perfectly. For an everyday bag, it’s also important to have something in dark leather and something that doesn’t scratch easily, like caviar leather. This one I’m wearing is easily damaged, but I only wear it when I know I’ll be careful!

Aside from an everyday bag, every girl should also have a small clutch for going out, and a bigger bag for day trips and days when you need to haul around extra stuff. And, of course, a really, really pretty designer bag for when you need an extra something to feel special!

What is the most important thing you look for when purchasing a brand-new bag?
Most importantly, it has to fit my style! I don’t change my bags every day, so I look for something in neutral colors that will go with a large part of my wardrobe. I also look for the two points I mentioned above-the ability to carry it in your elbow “nook”, and a medium size that will fit a novel.

I want my bags to last long, so I look at the quality of the leather and closures as well. Straps, zippers, and other closure devices tend to be the first thing to break, at least for me, so I think that it’s important to invest in something of higher quality.

Any other fashion advice?
Don’t buy something just because it’s cheap, and don’t wear something just because everyone else is wearing! Stay stylish and always have fun dressing up! 🙂
