In my previous post I have written extensively what we might expect in the year 2013. And that the question is not ‘will Chanel increase price, but when will Chanel increase their prices’. Procrastinators are paying the higher price.
Rumors are now telling that Chanel will increase their price in the end of February 2013. Will they? Last year they changed the price in the beginning of February. Maybe this is just a sales talk to get your credit card today, but who knows it’s fake? More more… we heard several times that the price increase will be +20% for all classic bags. Yes, + 20%, not 20 dollars!
So how will the prices be if the rumors are real. How much are you going to pay for the bags? Is it going to be expensive? Oh yes, you bet!

Given that Chanel will certainly NEVER decrease their prices, why not buy it as soon as you can? It can only go up.

Well, the lady at Heathrow said they will stock seasonal bags but no classics
Thanks for sharing this with us. It is a sad new that they don’t stock classics, because that is the bag we usually go for right? Do you also buy Seasonal Chanel bags?
I dont think there is that much difference between seasonal bags and the classics- both are made by the same company using the same quality standards and raw materials. Its just that classic bags come with the ‘status’ attached and are supported by Chanels marketing strategy to turn them into iconic, exclusive bags (there is a shortage of these bags, especially in black caviar and especially in a med/large size in all London stores). But at the end of the day, other than the fact that only classic flaps are lined with leather, they are all the same made by the same company- and so if I look at it that way, I think the seasonal bags in the colours are actually more trendy and look very sophisticated too.
I think you are right on most of the part. The classics are supported by the marketing strategy. But is it not that the audience are mostly focusing their attention on the classic than the seasonal bags? One positive about the seasonal bags is that they become discontinued when the season is over. So you will have a Chanel bag that is no longer in stock. I think the main difference lies in the value of the bag. If I buy a seasonal bag and then tries to sell it three years later, what’s the current value at that point? The value of the classic bags can be determined more easily. What’s your view on this?

I am travelling through Heathrow in august this years and I was looking forward to getting chanel 2.55 bag then. However, the chanel store at Heathrow terminal 3 no longer stocks bags in their store only cosmetics and perfumes. They said it is now Chanel policy. I am utterly disappointed.
Hi Vixxen, thanks for the information. That’s very pity, because Heathrow was the way to go to get the cheapest Chanel bag in Europe. I am very disappointed too. You said you are going to Heathrow in August, did you call the boutique beforehand?
Yes, I contacted he boutique on Saturday night. So disappointed!!!! Now I have to try to make my way to the boutique in London which is out of the way for me as I have a wedding to attend in Birmingham. BTW, I live in New Zealand.

Hey, I was passing through Heathrow in December and they do sell handbags, shoes, sunglasses, jackets. There is a chanel shop, about 3 minute walk after security in terminal 3. However, the only sell seasonal pieces and no the classic chanel bags.
That’s really sad. They don’t sell iconic bags anymore there. Heathrow was the only stop for EU citizen to buy Chanel cheap. Thanks for sharing Lisa!!!
