Chanel Classic Bags On Sale, Get Max. 25% Discount

Do you have any idea how much money you will save if you can get a 10% discount on a Chanel classic flap bag? That’s more than $400 USD. Wouldn’t be beautiful if you can use that extra money and change it into a gorgeous Chanel wallet. Now you have your Chanel dream bag with a Chanel wallet inside. If that’s what you want, then read on…

First of all, Chanel classic flap bags certainly never go on sales. I never heard of that. But they do discount their seasonal bags.

There are several ways to get your Chanel classic flap bag discounted:

1. Buy Chanel at Heathrow airport
There is a tax-free area in Heathrow airport, London, that sells Chanel product. And obviously all prices are already excluded taxes. So even EU citizen can enjoy this advantage.

2. Get VAT-refund
This is not something new, but as a NON-EU citizen, you are allowed to get tax-refund on all your purchases in Europe. How much tax-refund you can get depends entirely on the country you are in. I put together a list here:

discount-chanel-table-1

A lot of girls travel from Asia and US, and even Canada just to buy their dream bag for a lower price. Especially Asia has, due to high demand, ridiculous high prices.

Now that you know you can buy Chanel bags cheaper, also understand that stocks are usually limited. So when you find your dream bag, don’t hesitate and wait. Avoid disappointment and buy it before it runs out of stock.

3. Buy at tax-free area in US. Some states don’t inject taxes on products, so you can get your dream bag for cheaper price.
If you want to read more about buying Chanel bags cheaper, I recommend the article: Buying designer brands for a cheaper price. It’s an extensive summary including explanation of how the VAT refund works.

    Hi Sassy,

I would like to grab a Chanel classic Medium in Amsterdam, is the price 3950 euro is including VAT? How much is the VAT in Amsterdam? Do you have any idea whether Amsterdam hold a lot of stock in Medium Classic? Has anyone experience asking them to holding stock? I only have 12 hours transit in Amsterdam, i really wish they can hold the stock for me.

    Appreciate your reply.

      Hi Winnie,

I will try to answer you questions:

      Our latest price updates: http://bragmybag.com/chanel-bags-prices/

The Chanel Classic Flap Bag in Medium/Large is priced at €3550 euro’s, the €3950 euro price is for the jumbo size. VAT in Amsterdam is 21 percent, but generally you get 11 – 13 percent off, because you need to pay administration fee and so on… for applying and processing your tax-refund. Generally Amsterdam has stock, but recently Chanel had announced not to give any information (also on the phone) about its stock of their iconic bags which includes the classic flap bag.

You can still try to call them and make a reservation, you never know right?

      Please keep us updated =)

Thank you for your reply. So I will assume the euro3550 is including VAT? I did tried to call Chanel in Amsterdam, SA told me to send them an email. Anyway, I will try to call and ask them to reserve it if possible. And also did chanel have any zip around wallet? Do you have the price for it?
        Cheers

I did a little research about Chanel Germany: 12.9% VAT refund. Tax-refund process is the same in each country, you can apply for tax-refund in Rome for the bag you bought in Paris. You should apply for tax-refund at your last stop. Always ask the store to give you a special tax-refund form. The form is for the custom to verify.

Just for sharing, I just got back from Paris yesterday and delighted to inform that I can now add to the list of many wonderful buyers of the iconic Chanel double flapbag in jumbo caviar leather. I make the right decision to head straight to Chanel Rue Cambon instead of Galleries La Fayette as I was told the line was so long but not in my case. I was the first in line (hahaha there were NO line to be honest) at 10am (monday). As the door open, I was immediately greeted by Chanel SA and the rest is history… Wonderful experience! I also bought another Gorgeous sort of clutch bag in patent blue (ah… so silly of me because I didn’t know the name of this bag), bigger version of WOC and according to the SA the bag just came in the store. I fell in love with both bags beyond words.

        1. Chanel Classic Double flap bag in Jumbo size, Black color, SHW in caviar leather (last piece in their stock for that week) but they still have a few lambskin.

        2. Yes! Yes! Yes! That’s the bag! I got the new clutch as per the URL you gave me (WOC big sister) in gorgeous Blue color, patent/shiny leather.

        Love, love, love both bags………

Also, does this also means that I do not need to claim the VAT as the price of the bag already excludes the VAT?

    Many thanks!

Yes, VAT in UK is 20%, but to calculate your tax advantage, you need to substract your original price by 12 – 14% and not 20%.

Can I also ask, if my friend bought the chanel bag in france, and she will be travelling in different cities in UK next, can she do the vat refund in UK then? Cos I heard frm ppl that the economy of uk is not tied to europe even though it is part of europe.

How much is the vat refund(%) usually after deducting whatever necessary fees(eg admin fee), in UK?

Oh! I chanced upon a web that say germany’s vat refund is rather high, cos the administration fee is pt at 4%, which means usually can get a vat refund of 15% minus. Is that true??

I see that in germany, frankfurt (I have another friend going there soon), there is a chanel boutique, do u know if they would often hold stock like gst and the new mini??

I’m intending to get the gst in shw! Hehe. Actually I still can’t decide. Should I get a gst or a mini? 🙁 any recommendation? I tried them in the Singapore boutique yesterday. Both look good man!

        Sassy,

My friend went to Manchester and found black Jumbo Caviar in GHW! The only problem is, there is no customs officer to stamp the tax refund form in the airport and her only option is to drop all necessary documents on a dropbox. A local told us that he once dropped all his documents in that dropbox and never got his refund back, so she did not do it also for fear of losing both documents and the chance to refund the GST/ VAT. I am flying out to Rome at the end of the month, can I refund on her behalf using her documents? If not, is there any other way to get our tax back? I understand that I have three months to get it back but how? £400 is a lot! I would like to get in touch with you also by email, so I can give you more details about my dilemma, thanks again!

        June 5, 2013
          • Noiebun

In Manchester, all they need are documents, they don’t need to see the bag. So dropping a copy of the documents are okay? Not the original ones? I didn’t want to risk dropping it and losing it forever! Thanks for the link!

            June 6, 2013
          • Noiebun

Okay, I would like to clarify that in Manchester airport, there is NO customs officer to stamp the document. ONLY a dropbox, which is my main dilemma. I guess I can picture how my friend did not get his tax refund. When I read the link you posted above, it says, if there are no customs officer in the airport, just drop it in the box. It’s a very tricky situation.

            June 7, 2013
          • Noiebun

Chanel in Selfridges Manchester is well stocked with the Classics. Last month, I asked a friend buy a Jumbo Flap for my mom and she was able to score one. I went again this month to get Large Caviar Flap in GHW for me this time. I spoke to the SA, she said they have about TEN in stock. WOW! But they do NOT have any customs officer to stamp the form for you, only a drop box. I dropped my form and cross my fingers that I get my refund back in five weeks. But hell, still cheaper than EU, US or ASIA! By the way, they call the 9-inch flap Medium (2540 pounds) and 10-inch flap Large (2670 pounds).

Hi sassy! Great site – thank you for providing everyone with so much info!

I’ll be visiting Greece in a few weeks and really want a Chanel medium sized classic bag, but the whole VAT thing is confusing me, hope you can help shed some light on this….

I called the Chanel store in Athens today and was told that the bag costs €3,270, and is inlcusive of the VAT, which is €459. So my question is, what % is the VAT that’s been added on? (I believe I read Greece adds on a VAT of 23%, but this didnt seem right). Also, if I pay €3,270 at the store, how much will I get back when i claim my tax back / what will my final cost be?

I’m debating going to London for a couple of days just to get the bag if that works out better, also cuz the bag is currently not available in Athens – but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

        Thanks in advance!!

Thanks soo much! I’m from Hong Kong and the bag is just over €4,000 here, so im hoping they have it in stock in Greece when I’m there..

            Thanks again!

            May 22, 2013
          • Amy

            Yup that’s right!!! It’s like €4,010 – crazy right?

Also YES – everyone in Hong Kong has an authentic Chanel! Many are purchased in Europe I think.

However Chinese Mainland tourists (from China), have absolutely no problem buying them in Hong Kong, and so designer stores here have queues outside them for crowd control.

            May 25, 2013
          • Amy

No no…it’s not sold out here! It’s available at all the Chanel stores..I just don’t think it makes sense to spend that much since I’m going to Europe anyway. You are right – there is no sales tax in Hong Kong, and infact I think HK is the cheapest place to buy the bag in Asia, so I’m not completely sure why the huge price difference.
Will let you if I manage getting it in Greece though!

            Hi sassy
No, the price will be the same, just like in Europe, here in US we have different sale tax in each state and Oregon just doesnt apply sale tax to purchase. So basically, i will save 9.5 % of sale tax when i buy it in Oregon instead of Washington where i live.

Thanks for your reply! But if I’m not going to the airport in Paris (we are catching the train to Amsterdam) do I have another option or do I just need to take a quick trip to the airport while we’re there?
Thanks so much for your help

Hi, my friend is going to netherlands next week and i want him to help me get either jumbo or maxi cos i already got my medium. Seems like jumbo also won’t fit lots of stuff ? I am asian petite.. Any suggestion ? For VAT refund, can he get cash refund on the departure or via credit card will be better option ? I understand via card will take 3 months and cash will get lots deductions ? What does he need to do to get the vat refund ? Pls advice. Many thanks.

I’m from Singapore and flying to Amsterdam soon! I’ve a classic medium and wanted to get one more darling Chanel whilst I’m there! But not sure if its cheaper in amsterdam compared to Spore? Could you advise please? I’m thinking of a jumbo or a PST or GST! Super excited!!!!!!!

I’m at Amsterdam now and give in to the Chanel classic maxi w Ghw this round..
Nothing much left in the boutique..
            And I found the amazona!
But am still going to hunt for Celine luggage to see if I can get one first!

I went but they’re all out of luggage this round! Sad..
Saw a new Chloe though! Maybe getting that instead..
In your opinion, was it a mistake to get another classic flap when I already have the medium.. Should I get something else like Chanel boy instead?
            Torn!

I’m back sassy! And with two Chanels to add to my collection! I wanted to exchange the Maxi but hubby loves the GHW cos my medium is in silver. And whilst I was there, there was a new piece of tote bag similar to gst but sleeker and lighter so I got it!!! Amsterdam was a great shopping heaven! I got the new Chloe Alice too!

Hi sassy, I went Italy last year. And tried to appy e tax refund at the airport. but the office say her system was done n cldnt do it fr me. So she ask me to fill up form n will credit to my credit card. But almost 9 mths I don’t see any money credit back to me. I called up e credit card company, they said no sign of e tax refund. What should I do?

Hi Sassy. We are scheduled to go to Italy & France in May. My husband is planning to buy me my 1st Chanel bag as his gift for our 10th year Wedding Anniv. I want a Medium Flap Bag & i can’t wait to get a hold of it! Reading this blog, do you advise me to buy in Italy, let’s say in Rome coz the the VAT is 21%? than in Paris which only has 19.6% VAT?
Hoping to hear from you & thank you so much & i really am a fan of your blog! More power!!!!

I really want to buy in Paris coz i want the saying, “i bought this in Paris”, but Paris is the last city of our trip. Rome is the 1st one we’ll go to. Do i need to check the stores in Paris once i reached Europe or i’ll just check the cities in Italy where we’ll go to, Rome, Florence or Milan? Thank you!
