Chanel Chevron Or Diamond Quilting

Currently at Chanel, there are two types of Quilting that are considered ‘timeless’. The first one is obvious the Diamond Quilting, but the popularity of the Chevron Quilting has risen from thin air in the past few years. Both are stunning and they’re safe investments, here’s why…

Diamond Quilting needs no explanation – this design has been used on the iconic Chanel Reissue Bag for a long time, the work of Coco Chanel. It has been said that the pattern is inspired by jockeys’ riding coats as well as the cushions in Chanel’s Paris Apartment.

You might not have noticed, but if you have been a Chanel fan for a long time, then you know that the Chevron Quilting is actually nothing new. This design has been implemented into many vintage Chanel handbags – just look it up and you will find many variations in Chevron Quilting including the Mini Flap Bags. This type of Quilt is also called Herringbone Pattern and it’s named that way because it resembles the skeleton of a herring fish.

Herringbone Pattern is not new; it’s a known pattern used on floors and clothing. And neither does the name Chevron, which has been used a lot in military and police uniform to indicate ranks. Chevron pattern in art has been discovered in ancient times – Archaeology found potteries and rock carvings in V patterns back in the year of 1800 BC.

But what are you looking for in a Chanel Bag? Chic and elegant design, right? A bag that has survived the depression – one that’s time-tested and can be used forever. A bag that never go-out-of-style. Well, both Chevron and the Diamond Quilting possess these qualities.

So which one are you going to pick?
