Some brands enforce the ‘buyers restriction’ to limit foreign consumers from emptying their stock, other brands try to increase prices and make their classic accessories harder-to-reach, but still, their demand are no match to the Hermes Birkin and Kelly bags, they are somewhat exclusive. You need to be lucky enough to be at the right spot, right time and talking to the right SA, or you can also drop your name at their never-ending waiting list. After Hermes published their second quarter financial results, Duman the Co-CEO of Hermes explained explicitly why Birkin and Kelly are hard-to-get. He said that these bags are all handmade with only the finest materials, there is an increasing demand for resources like silk and calf leather, which is getting more expensive as other brands are also purchasing for their own production. The demand is just too large and Hermes can’t produce fast enough to meet them all.
