Hermes Bag Prices

Hermes. If you’re a die-hard fashionista or even follow the fashion world remotely, you’ll surely recognize this name. The French manufacturer has been around since 1837, the first handbags being released during the mid-2oth century. Nowadays the company is noted for their glamorous bags, being the icon of high-style, wealth, and success.

Buyer restriction by Hermes in Paris is not new; one person can only buy two bags a year. You can have one Birkin or Kelly and the second bag is a free choice.

Hermes Birkin Bags
In 1984 the Hermes Birkin Bag was born. Beginning as a supple leather bag for actress and singer Jane Birkin, the bag quickly rose in popularity and is now the symbol of wealth, class, and fashion. It’s highly recognizable design makes it a staple of the fashion industry and it’s gorgeous craftsmanship gives it the appeal every fashionista dreams about.

Every inch of the Hermes Birkin Bag is handcrafted in France, from the gorgeous exterior available in a variety of authentic skins and colors to the roomy, matching interior. The bag boasts saddle stitching which embraces its roots from the beginning of Hermes, back in the 19th century. Finished with a stunning gold (or palladium) plated lock and key, the Hermes Birkin Bag is undoubtedly the staple of success and trend.

Sizes are numbered in 25, 30, 35 and 40. These are centimeters, so 25 means 25 centimeter. Birkin 50 and 55 are exceptional; they are much larger and best used for travelling instead of shopping or as an everyday bag.

Birkin uses calf, crocodile, ostrich and lizard leathers, colors available are white, black, gold, orange, navy blue, olive green, pink, red, brown and baby blue.

There is more demand for Hermes Birkin bag than supply, that’s why they are so-hard to find. Each Birkin is hand-made with impeccable craftsmanship and precision.

Hermes personally offers a special treatment for used Birkin bags. They call it the ‘spa treatment’. It is actually a reconditioning service they provide.

Hermes Kelly Bags
The Hermes Kelly Bag is a recognizable elegant bag that is iconic to the Hermes industry. Although created in 1936, the bag didn’t truly become popular until 1956 when Grace Kelly showcased her alluring bag. It was at that moment the Hermes Kelly Bag would rise to its popularity and become the fashion must-have it is today.

The bag showcases a sense of undeniable style, yet is notably one of the finer and more sophisticated bags on the market, a bag you carry on your arm to fancy events rather than toying around downtown with your friends. And while the bag is remarkably similar to the Hermes Birkin Bag, the Kelly has its own sense of style with a firmer rectangular shape free of slouching. The Kelly is also handcrafted with a single handle rather than two.

Regarding the Evelyne III GM, the Hermes website (France) has a black one in Epsom and also in Clemence Noir, Based on the pictures on the website, I am interested in the Epsom since the leather is not as shinny. But my friend said the Epsom is shinnier than Clemence. Please advise if my friend is wrong or the website is wrong (pretty unlikely).

R the prices in pounds correct? It’s so close to euro.

For as far as we know, the prices are correct. The prices shouldn’t be too far from euro, as UK is within the EU.

Can someone please recommend a nice & friendly SA at FSH store? Thank you so much!

  11. Yoyo July 29, 2015 Reply

Hi, I just back from Paris last Saturday & no luck with Birkins at all. After 45mins queue at FSH store, the SA serving me was quite rude as I asked to see hats, wallets & twillies first, trying to build good rapport with her. She just got angry even thought I greeted her how’s her day so far at the beginning. She seemed to feel that I’m wasting her time & even directed me to other SAs. She was so so terrible!! I was so upset that I bought nothing from this store.

Luckily I still bought my accessories at the no. 17 store as well as CDG airport. Their SA are more friendly & took their time to serve me. Got a Garden Party 36 at CDG airport but no Birkins :'(

    • Cynthia August 1, 2015 Reply

Omg, yoyo, so unprofessional of the SA at FSH store. Why did she get angry? What did she say to you? She is there to help you!

  12. Bag Collector July 13, 2015 Reply

There’s a bag missing on your list under Kelly which is the shoulder Kelly. If you get a size 40, the lock that comes with it is extra big as well (as compared to the lock on Kelly and Birkins. The Kelly Lakis is one of the most expensive Kelky bag in swift leather (not considering exotic skins) because of its 3 zippered pockets. 2 in the front and 1 in the back. I got mine from the boutique for $13,900 USD about 2 years ago. The price should have gone up even more because it’s rare.

    • Cynthia July 14, 2015 Reply

Hi Bag Collector, We will add that bag as soon as possible. Yes the Kelly Lakis is really hard to find. It’s even harder to get than Birkin, I think the Kelly Lakis has limited production. Thank you for your comment and letting us know about the Kelly Shoulder!

Harlow! I’ll be going to Paris and Rome and Florence in Sept 2015 and really really hope to get a Lindy 30. Can you please let me which store in Paris, Rome and Florence week have the highest chance of availability?

    • Lily July 11, 2015 Reply

I don’t think its very hard to get this bag. This bag is even sold at Hermes website. But I would bet in Paris because I belief they have more stock.

    • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

Lindy is very common and easy to find at any Paris, London or even US store. If you’re getting a Lindy, you can probably get a Birkin if they do indeed have inventory at the time or you can return to the same SA.

I just recently (June) saw this bag in Hermes Store in Taiwan. Can someone tell me what this bag is called? I overheard that this is a rare piece to come by. Is it? Thank you!

  15. Anonymous July 5, 2015 Reply

Some one gave me a Hermes Evelyn purse. I believe it is a III PM (PM per the measurements) . It has an outside pocket and an inside pocket with an adjustable strap. My question is, it has a square J marking on the tab and Hermes Paris Made in France stamp under the tab attachment and on the shoulder strap, but I can’t find the year the Evelyne III was first made. It seems very old (2006) for a III PM. I want to make sure it is authentic and find a reasonable price to sell it for. Can you help?

    • Cynthia July 4, 2015 Reply

There are plenty of used-bags shop and consignment stores there, its quite popular in Japan.

    • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

There are several reliable resale shops in Japan. However, if the pricing is low, considering the condition, think twice!

Hi Claudia, I think this is the Hermes Gao Hobo Bag, I haven’t seen this bag for a long time. It’s usually made from Clemence. I see the Gao Bag a lot in the re-seller market, but not many in Hermes store. In fact, I haven’t seen this bag of a while now.

    Lindy 34 clemence 5300€
all the prices include tax.. the tax will be deducted only 10% and by credit card only…
hope this information can be helpful..

Hi Susi, how are you doing! Thank you so much for the new information, we will do an update very soon, so we will take these into account. They’re very helpful. And congrats with your new bags!

    • Emme May 26, 2015 Reply

Susi, did you go to the store on Saint Honore? Did you have to get there first thing in the AM and wait on line? Did you need to buy something else or have a profile history before being offered a bag let alone 3?!!

      • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

You don’t have to go first thing in the morning, especially if you have a SA you work with, but it’s not a be idea. There are 2 doors at the St. Honore store. Side door has shorter lines.
I think the Lindy purchase helped. Also, 3 bags were between 2 women. In 13 months, I was able to get 4 Birkins between 2 stores. Cultivating relationship is not just about spending $$. The SAs sell to people they like.

      • Anonymous March 31, 2015 Reply

Sorry.. And hi.. Anyone can give me some info ?? Thank you

      • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

I saw many Picotin in both Paris and London stores. If you get a Picotin, you will also be given a Birkin IF they have any in stock. August Is a peak season so inventory is low. Keep your SA info and go back to the person again; you’ll probably get one sooner or later. Know what size and colors you want and be open to their recommendations. I was told by my SA that they are not permitted to show more than 2 Birkins per day to the same client. They will also not have the 2 out for you to compare. Only one at a time. To receive the maximum that refund, it is in your best interest to buy all your merchandises on the same day and on the same bill. There is a fee that Hermes charges per transaction, not per item. Charges per transaction, not per item.

I just purchased a Toolbox 26cm in Etain (secondhand buy 90% new and everything included)for US$5128. Is it an okay deal? Also, the sales associate told me that the leather on my bag is not called swift leather, it is a more durable version of swift leather. Do you know what that leather is called? I will insert a picture below. Thanks.

    • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

You should go take this to Hermes and confirm its authenticity. It doesn’t look right.

  34. Scarlet March 22, 2015 Reply

Do you know if Hermes will adjust their prices (raise euros and lower Asia prices) like chanel did?

And will they adjust the prices in pounds since euro dropped so much? Since I know they adjusted the accessories prices (lowered in pounds) at the beginning of January

    • Lily March 23, 2015 Reply

I am afraid Hermes will not follow the decision of Chanel. It’s really only Chanel.

    • Birkinbag March 19, 2015 Reply

Sorry it sounds kind confusing, to be more clear, after you picked leather and all that stuff, but they have to make the bag for you, so do you pay in full, or just pay a down payment first? And pay the rest when you pick up the bag? Thank you!

      • Kelly March 22, 2015 Reply

What do you mean make the bag for you? I think you are talking about the waiting list. You only paid for the bag once it arrives at the store and you are ready to pick it up. No downpayments.

Hi, I’m debating between a Birkin 25cm and Kelly 28cm Sellier, which do you think is better and price wise, kelly seller cost more than a retourne i presume?

    • Joey March 8, 2015 Reply

I like Birkin 25 better. I have a 32 kelly sellier , the leather is very hard.

    • EPLA July 27, 2015 Reply

Are you a small framed person? 25 is quite dainty. When the bag is too small compared to your overall size, it will make you look bigger than you actually are. 30 Birkin or 32 Kelly maybe better “fit” and have a better resale value.

May I know some more about their Butler leather? I’ve got a roulis yesterday and when I asked for the name of the leather. They told me that’s ‘butler’ and it’s a kind of calf skin.

    • Lily February 28, 2015 Reply

To confirm, the Butler leather should look like Barenia leather (first impression), but it’s not because the leather is much smoother and not tanned the same way. It should more like the tadelakt leather. Please check for reference:
