Chanel City Rock Bag

Can’t afford the Chanel Classic Flap Bag? No worries, there are plenty of contemporary Chanel bags to choose from. In fact, there are so many styles that you don’t even know where to start.

There are bags that look similar to the Classic Flap Bag but much lower-priced (let’s do not say cheap, because its not cheap!). Like the CC Carey Flap Bag, we will do a review about that bag later on.

But today, the story is starring the Chanel City Rock Bag. Oh and did you know that the Chanel Castle Rock Bag exists?

But let’s get to the point, our friend Betsy went shopping the other day at Bergdorf Goodman. She wanted a seasonal Chanel Bag from the Spring Summer 2015 Collection and was interested in the Chanel CC Carey Flap Bag. But her interest soon faded away when she spotted the Chanel City Rock Bag from the Pre-Fall 2015 Collection.

You see, the Chanel City Rock Bag is everything but ordinary. The gorgeous chains, the beautiful quilt and the newest CC logo makes your heart beat faster.

Zoom-in on the CC logo and you will read ‘CHANEL’, ’31 RUE CAMBON’ and ‘Paris’. To make it more sophisticated, the center is featured with another CC on a round-shaped embellishment.

Listen to Betsy story:

It’s from the Spring/Summer 2015 collection called Chanel CC Carey Bag and is currently available (as of 7/5/2015, I almost bought it, but got a City Rock bag from Act 1 pre-fall 2015 instead) at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC for $3500-$3700 (medium/large size).

It’s a beautiful lambskin, and is somewhat durable, but can become damaged more easily than the regular caviar or calfskin or goatskin bags. It is leather inside, and has a beautiful silver chain and CC. It’s a very beautiful bag, but not for every day.

So I questioned her: Betsy why did you choose the City Rock Bag instead of the CC Carey Bag?

See image of the CC Carey Bag in the comment section here

I decided on the City Rocks bag because it will be more durable for everyday.
The City Rocks bag is a little bigger than the medium sized Chanel CC Carey Bag but comparable in size to the large CC Carey. The City Rocks is goatskin instead of lambskin, which is the leather of the CC Carey bag.

The finish on the leather of City Rocks is more durable and can handle wear and tear and sustain scratches better than the CC Carey. The City Rocks and the large CC Carey are same in price, and the medium CC Carey is $200 less. The City Rocks bag is also part of the pre-fall 2015 collection, and the bag has never been done before and at this time is not going to be reproduced.

Therefore, I think between the durability and it being a brand new style, I went with the pre-fall collection. However, the CC Carey is very ladylike and beautiful and I still have my eye on it. I included a pic of the City Rocks bag.

What a great detailed answer. Betsy, thank you for sharing us your story. Congrats with your new purchase.

Hi, I got the city rock in red in July 2015. Yes, you can adjust the side straps so the bottom will lay flat.

What size is the one pictured? What are the dimensions of the small and medium?

I love love this purse. Purchased one on a recent trip to Paris. I don’t agree that you get this purse if you can’t afford the classic. It is really a beautiful purse. I actually purchased the classic jumbo but went back the next day and exchanged it for the city rock and a medium boy. The classic was just too heavy for me.

i love this rock city! I got it in black. Do you know if you can adjust the sides so that the bottom lays flat? Thanks!

Yes the side straps could be adjusted to allow for the bottom to flatten out.
