If there’s anything from Chanel that reflects back to Coco Chanel, that would be the Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag. Coco started designing handbags in the 1920’s. At that time, women were carrying their handbags around their arms or by hand. So in 1929, Coco decided to introduce a handbag that has a strap and you could sling it around your shoulder. But the 2.55 bag was not born yet.
Chanel’s fame increased in 1954 and Coco decided to re-design the style of her handbag. In February 1955, she official launched her new bag and it was called the Chanel 2.55.
Throughout the years, the Chanel 2.55 has been modified into a different bag. They changed the locker, the leather, the flaps and even the straps. Later on, Karl Lagerfeld decided to re-make the Chanel 2.55 bag exactly as Coco Chanel has made it back in 1929. It was released in February 2005 in memorial of its 50th birthday, since then the legendary bag is called: Chanel 2.55 reissue classic flap bag.
Not only has the Chanel 2.55 reissue a rich history, but without it, I belief the famous Chanel classic flap collection wouldn’t have born.

Hi Junjun, the 2.55 reissue flap bag will remain classic as Karl Lagerfeld has re-made it in 2005. The design will not be altered anymore, except for the leather and the golden hardware.
Yesterday I just bought my very first Chanel reissue 2.55 225 in black aged calfskin (or distressed cafeskin) for 4550 + 5% gst in Canada!!!! Wooooow….. I’m so excited and giddy, I have really stopped myself from getting up at midnight and try on the purse!!! Please excuse me of expressing my excitement!!! OMG, the Chanel reissue 2.55 is the legend of the legend, designed by Coco Chanel. It contains a long history, did you know that 2.55 means February 1955, the exact release date of this style. Even the classic flap bag is inspired by the 2.55 reissue flap bag.
